The Barcelona Symphony Orchestra returns to international touring under the baton of Juanjo Mena, undoubtedly one of Spain’s finest conductors. The tour is part of the cycle of activities to mark the Robert Gerhard year, taking his music to northern Europe. It will visit two of Europe’s leading concert halls, both members, along with L’Auditori, of the European Concert Hall Organization (ECHO): the new Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, a veritable icon of the world of music, and Stockholm’s historic Konserthuset. The Orchestra’s performances will be enhanced by the presence of cellist Pablo Ferrández. Since his meteoric rise to fame at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, this outstanding performer has been a source of inspiration for all young string players in Catalonia.
