In July 2019, the OBC will go on a one-month tour of Japan within the framework of the Tokyo 2020 Cultural Olympiad

In addition to being the principal conductor of the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra since 2015, the maestro Kazushi Ono is also the music director of the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and Counsellor of the Tokyo 2020 Cultural Olympiad . Kazushi Ono is one of the most international names in the field of orchestra conducting that the Asian country has, and has wanted to take the OBC to the Tokyo 2020 Cultural Olympiad to guarantee a high level of concerts at this event and also to present his joint work with our orchestra to his country. We must thank Master Ono for his invitation, which will once again take the OBC to Japan as an ambassador of art and music of our country.

Throughout the month of July, the Orchestra will offer several concerts and operatic performances with a range of works that will be performed at the L'Auditori during the 2018-19 season. One of the concert programs will include the Concert for Orchestra and Guitar Number 2 of Juan Manuel Cañizares , the Concert for Two Shamisens by Fabian Santcovsky and The three-cornered hat , of Manuel de Falla , whereas the Ninth Symphony of Beethoven performed with local choirs and soloists.
