In the 1970s, fusion styles started to become popular in which an important role was played ‎by jazz and Baroque music influences. Claude Bolling, a classically-trained jazz musician, wrote ‎some creations he shared with renowned performers such as flautist Jean-Pierre Rampal, ‎violinist Pinchas Zukerman, trumpeter Maurice André or the cellist Yo-Yo Ma. It was for the ‎latter that in 1984 he composed the Suite for cello and jazz piano trio. It is a work ‎in six movements that combines Baroque and jazz with a very original approach that achieved ‎a new sales record with the recording starring Yo-Yo Ma himself. On this occasion we present ‎the version scored for viola.‎
